A Short Note on CABAC Module in H.264 Published in IEEE SP News letter

 Introduction:
Context based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) is used as one of the entropy coding method along with CAVLC in H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10). A binary arithmetic coding is used adaptively in combination with context modeling to achieve higher compression. This article introduces binary arithmetic coding and explains the reason behind the selection of CABAC as an entropy coding method and also explains how the adaptation of probability with context modeling is carried out in CABAC.
